Today we look back at Joe Jordan and wife Marty (Lunt) — Erin’s maternal grand-parents, as they are dressed up for a presumed night out for the holidays. Some nostalgia to remember the not so distant times when gatherings weren’t fraught with health risks as they are this year. You can see the nearby Christmas tree, with some yellowed bulb lights, a bold red ball ornament and some tinsel. Marty’s dangled ball earrings nearly blend into the decor of the tree, and she’s assembled quite the curled hairdo, fur shawl, and long gloves. Joe has a steady smile, and a standard blue suit, with his trademark thick rimmed glasses (which have really come back fashion-wise, yeah? — Erin thinks I should go thicker, should I pull a Joe?)
I chose Christmastime of 1970, as an appearance-based-age-estimating date guess, where Joe would be 48 years, and Marty 43 years — in fact I selected her birthday, realizing that it falls so closely to Christmas. That made me wonder what her attitude regarding the birthday/Christmas closeness may have been. I’m uncertain of location. Perhaps there’s enough tree and wall familiarity to confirm if it’s home – (Pebble Brook house?). And for the exact nature of the outing, it’s a wonder, as so many of these are, and may always remain.
- Did Marty embrace having the birthday/Christmas closeness, or did she not like that?
- Do you think this was taken at their home (Pebble Brook house)?
- Can you fine-tune the date/age of this?
