This is Margaret Lorimer on her wedding day to Jack Lunt. Margaret is Erin’s maternal great-grandmother direct through maternal lines.
Margaret (Lorimer) Lunt, mother to Martha (Lunt) Jordan, mother to Margaret (Jordan) Pickett, mother to Erin.
So you can now see the inspiration for Erin’s mother’s name.
MyHeritage, in their own response to COVID-19 (I think everyone now has some kind of response or action, right?) — is making their colorization process freely available for awhile — so here’s a colorized version that looks quite nice as an alternative to the brown/sepia original.
For date, I don’t yet have a document/direct source, but another user on ancestry has indicated a wedding date of February 4, 1928, so we’re working with that until proven otherwise. That was a Saturday, and as Margaret was born May 8 of 1906, she would be 21 years old.
We can surmise this was in St Louis, Missouri, as she is located there on both 1920 and 1930 census (what’s the plural of census, censi?), and Martha was born there December 21, 1928 — (so conception did not take long!); additionally — the photo has a photography studio marked on the border “Schweig St Louis”. Here’s more info about the Schweig family tradition of wedding photography.
The ornate iron railing and marble features behind her give some hope we could ultimately figure out the exact location, presumably a church/cathedral in the St Louis area, if that isn’t discerned from a theoretical marriage certificate out there. I admire her hair and veil which evoke classic 20’s styling.
- Which church/location is this?
- Is the wedding date confirmed from another source?
