It’s an August birthday celebration for (left to right), Tracy Chapman, Betty (Dague) DeVoe, and Terri Chapman. Maternal first cousins to Matt flanking his (and theirs), maternal grandmother.

Ziggy is hand-frosted in the customary detailed and skilled fashion by my mother.

The cake writing gives ages, which yields the date — of August 1980, with ages being 17 and 15 for the sisters, and 63 years for the grandmother. My mother would turn 29 the same month. 2 year old me may have been napping or exploring around, while 9 year old Lisa was likely having some fun and wondering if ice cream would be served with this cake.

This is taken in the girls, house — will refer to as “Evergreen house”, on the familiar wood paneled porch.
