To celebrate her birthday today — happy birthday!! — I cleaned up this shot of my mother — here a toddler-age Penny DeVoe (Wise) looking off contemplatively into the distance. She’s got a ponytail and I’m going to guess the coat is a brother Larry hand-me-down?
Based on age estimation of 3-4 years (or very Charlotte-y in my world) — this would likely be fall/winter of 1954-1955.
I think I’ve identified the car as an early 1950’s Buick Roadmaster:
No info on the back or any surrounding details to understand the location or situation or context — so we can use our imagination. I guess it’s possible that is some kind of pyramidal roof structure through the car window that would jog a memory. A park pavilion?
- Who would have been the bigger picture-taker — Don or Betty?
- Does Penny remember the car?
